About Artist Valarie Wade
Valarie Wade was born in Kansas and raised in Oklahoma (US). She entered art contest at an early age (5 years old). There was an early morning TV show that offered area children the chance to win prizes for drawings that would be shown on the program. She won various prizes from kites, banks, and the biggest prize a playhouse! Most of her artwork in the early years was contest related only and she never considered to pursue drawing or artwork as a career path.
She went on to get a degree in psychology. During her last year of study, she took a beginning art class in college. This is what started up the drawing process again. ( I consider myself self-taught even though I took the 3 hour course. )
Shortly after taking the class, Valarie found self-representing artist on ebay and that is what started her down the path of fantasy artwork. (ACEOs, 4x6, canvas paintings, and watercolors were listed on ebay)
She enjoys watching cartoons, animation of any kind, sci-fi, and fantasy films. Reading fantasy, sci-fi, and mythology books. (coloring books you bet! who says you have to grow up : )
She is in the Enid art association and has gallary space the she uses to hang and sell many original pieces of artwork. The majority of Valarie's paintings are acrylics on canvas sheets or wrapped canvas ready to hang. The sizes of each original paintings vary, 9 x 12 inches to the largest made to date at 16 x 20 inches. All prints are made at home on professional printers. She prefers canvas prints to capture the look of the original. Hand embellished prints are also made by the artist in her home. After the high quality archival canvas print is made, Valarie then hand paints on the print and seals the print with archival gallary painting varnish.
In such a short time, Valarie has been lucky enough to sell many of her paintings online and in the gallary, received a few licensing contracts, and looks forward to seeing what she can create in the many years to come.
