My name is Esther Remmington and I am a Fantasy artist/illustrator. I was born in Essex, England in 1980 and began drawing as soon as I could hold a pencil! My passion for fantasy and faeries started from childhood with my love for fairytales in books and films and continued to develop when I later discovered fantasy art.

I always enjoyed art at school and went on to study graphic design at college achieving a National Diploma qualification with distinction. Although I then went on to work in retail for some years, art remained my passion and I often took on various commissions as well as personal projects.

In 2006 I decided to unfold my wings and follow my artistic path so I created this website to display my artwork and offer prints for sale. Since then my work has been featured on various internet sites and in a few magazines. I have also exhibited at craft shows and festivals as well as taking commissions and being involved in several projects.

My inspiration comes from many sources, particularly my interest in nature, folklore, mythology and a love of all thing faerie! Nature itself is a strong influence and in my eyes, faeries are ‘nature personified’ and that’s what I try and portray in my paintings. They are guardians of flowers, trees, mushrooms, even the elements and seasons.  Nature is beautiful and wild which is reflected in the figures I paint. My pictures often do not turn out exactly as planned, instead they seem to take on a life of their own, as if the faeries themselves want to have a say in the way they are painted! My work isn’t exclusive to faeries but encompasses the whole realm of fantasy and magic.

As well as painting, I enjoy many other creative projects including jewellery making, nature photography and creating fancy dress costumes.
